Binawan Sends 20 more Nurses to The Netherlands

JAKARTA: Labor supply company PT Binawan Inti Utama sent on Saturday, February 26th 2005, 20 more professional nurses to the Netherlands with gross monthly salaries between US$1,200 and $1,500 for three years.

The healthcare professionals who have passed several tests at home, would be employed in private and state hospitals in five towns in the tiny country.

Binawan's president Saleh Alwaini said that Binawan resumed the labor export to the Netherlands after it was suspended over the last two years when the Health Ministry wanted to take over the business.

"Binawan resumes the labor export after the two countries agree to ask Binawan to continue the business," he said, citing that so far Binawan has supplied 640 healthcare professionals to that country.

He suggested that the government continue its role regulator by making bilateral agreements with other countries seeking foreign professionals while the recruitment of jobseekers and their training be entrusted to labor exporters.

Secretary General of the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry Tjeppy Al'oei who saw off the nurses' departure at the campus of Binawan Institute of Health Sciences (BIHS), expressed his proud of the nurses who are taking challenges to work overseas.

Samuel who represented the nurses said that they were proud of BIHS that has trained them to allow their employment overseas. He pledged that they would do and give their best to maintain Indonesia's good image overseas.
